JANU offers several forms of financial support for eligible students, including need-based assistance, academic scholarships, research and program awards, student-athlete aid, and graduate funding.
Eligibility, application requirements, and award amounts vary by student category, program, and funding source.
Undergraduate students may be considered for university financial aid based on demonstrated financial need, academic achievement, program participation, or other award criteria.
Some forms of support are reviewed automatically through university records, while others require additional financial or award-specific materials.
Applicants seeking financial assistance should review funding requirements before the relevant priority deadline.
PRIORITY FUNDING REVIEW
February 5, 2027
Applications or supporting materials received after the priority date may still be considered where funding remains available.
Need-based assistance is intended to help eligible students meet educational costs when family or personal financial resources are limited.
Assessment may consider financial information submitted by the student and, where applicable, their household or responsible family members.
Awards may vary according to demonstrated need, enrollment status, available funding, and university policy.
Admission decisions and need-based financial aid decisions are reviewed through separate processes.
JANU awards academic scholarships to selected students on the basis of academic achievement, sustained performance, and university or program criteria.
Scholarships awarded to entering students are determined through the admission and scholarship review process. Because applicants enter JANU from different educational systems, no single secondary-school GPA guarantees an academic scholarship.
For continuing undergraduate students, JANU uses the following university GPA standards for general academic scholarship consideration:
Meeting the minimum GPA does not automatically guarantee an award. Scholarships remain subject to academic standing, enrollment requirements, available funding, and any additional criteria established for the award.
Funding may be available through research participation, academic programs, creative work, university-sponsored initiatives, and other forms of structured student engagement.
Awards may be administered by schools, colleges, departments, research institutes, laboratories, or university programs.
Eligibility and selection procedures vary by opportunity.
Eligible varsity student-athletes may receive financial support through JANU Athletics and university funding structures.
Athletic aid may consider recruitment status, program resources, eligibility, academic standing, and applicable university policies.
Athletic financial support is separate from admission and does not guarantee admission to JANU.
Prospective student-athletes should work directly with the relevant varsity coaching staff and university offices regarding recruitment-related financial support.
International students may be eligible for selected JANU scholarships, academic awards, graduate funding, research support, and program-based financial assistance.
Eligibility may depend on degree level, academic program, student status, funding source, or award-specific requirements.
International applicants should review both university-wide opportunities and any funding available through their intended academic unit.
Graduate students may receive support through university scholarships, research assistantships, teaching appointments, program awards, externally funded projects, or other academic funding.
Availability varies substantially by degree, department, research group, and funding source.
Applicants seeking graduate funding should review their intended program’s requirements and submit applications early where priority deadlines apply.
STANDARD PRIORITY DATE
December 15, 2026
For Fall 2027 programs following JANU’s standard graduate calendar.
Some graduate programs maintain earlier or separate funding deadlines.
Eligible students may apply for part-time employment within academic units, administrative offices, research environments, libraries, student services, athletics, and other university operations.
Campus employment availability varies throughout the year and should not be assumed to cover the full cost of attendance.
International students must also comply with applicable student-status and employment regulations.
Financial support may be applied toward eligible educational expenses according to the terms of the award.
Depending on the form of assistance, support may contribute toward:
TUITION & ACADEMIC FEES
UNIVERSITY HOUSING
MEALS & DAILY LIVING
BOOKS & ACADEMIC MATERIALS
RESEARCH OR PROGRAM COSTS
OTHER APPROVED EDUCATIONAL EXPENSES
The exact costs covered depend on the individual award or financial aid package.
