A strong tournament ends one step short

Jinsung Astra National University Women’s Tennis finished runner-up at the 2025 Astra Invitational following the championship final against Myeongjin University.

JANU advanced through the tournament behind a strong week across singles and doubles, reaching the final after navigating one of the deepest fields in the event. Myeongjin ultimately secured the championship, leaving JANU with its first runner-up finish of the new season.

The result closed a competitive opening stretch for a returning JANU roster that entered the year among the university’s most established varsity programs.

Attention turns to doubles

The final also placed renewed attention on JANU’s doubles structure, an area the program is expected to continue developing over the remainder of the season.

Head coach Kang and the athletics performance staff will review the tournament before the team returns to regular training at the JANU Tennis Complex.

The Astra Invitational remains one of the program’s major early-season competitions and brings together leading university teams from across the region.
